Seeing Red.

There are basically two reasons for today's FOTD:
1. It's hotter than Hades here and if I spend longer than 10-15 minutes on my makeup, I get sweaty and irritated (obviously not a very cute combo), so a complicated eyeshadow look was out of the question.
2. I wanted to wear something a bit out of the ordinary (for me).

BRIGHT RED LIPS IT WAS!

Eyeko Liptastik Glossy Lip Pen in Lip Lover

I forgot to take a picture of the lip pen, but it's the one that looks like the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils...you know what I mean. Click here if you want to see what it looks like (it's not an affiliate link).

Lip Lover is a bright, tomato red, and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how nice the Liptastik formula is. It...
 -is very pigmented and opaque
-glides on smoothly and effortlessly
-is moisturizing
-has a shiny finish
-feels rather light on the lips

The best part about it? You don't have to sharpen it, despite it's deceptive pencil packaging...it twists up from the bottom like a normal lipstick :)

Eyeko Liptastik Glossy Lip Pen in Lip Lover

Like I said in this post, I do tend to feel a little "made-up" when I wear full-on red lips, but at least this feels comfortable on my lips (ie not thick, goopy, or drying), so I don't feel like I have to worry about it bleeding at the edges of my lips throughout the day or transferring onto my teeth when I'm talking, etc. Oh, I could just go on and on about the fears and inconveniences I associate with red lipstick!

And, while I find most red lipsticks a bit high-maintenance, meaning I usually have to use a lip brush and lip liner to get the application to not look horrific, Lip Lover's application is a breeze. What you see above is how it looks applied straight from the tube (pencil?).

I'm still not really a red lipstick kind of person but I must admit, I feel pretty bad ass every time I wear it ;)
