MAC Club Eyeshadow Dupe...Or Not.

MAC Club eyeshadow is a gorgeous green-brown duochrome shade with slightly red undertones. It's been described by many as the perfect eyeshadow for an "only one eyeshadow" look as the duochrome creates enough depth and visual interest that you wouldn't need to use a separate crease color. I'd have to agree :) It was one of the prizes I received from Justine in her giveaway, and I mentioned in yesterday's post that I had a more affordable dupe in my collection that I would share with you. Are you ready??

MAC Club and Bella Sugar Cosmetics Chocolate Covered Blueberries

Introducing Chocolate Covered Blueberries by Bella Sugar Cosmetics. (For those who are unfamiliar, BSC is a small company that sells makeup on Etsy...Don't worry, I'll link you up to everything at the end of the post!) As you can see in the pan, these two look almost identical. The main visible difference here is that Chocolate Covered Blueberries has a much softer texture than Club, thus it looks a bit more "crumbly" in the pan.

When swiped on each finger, Club looks mostly brown with only a tinge of green duochrome while Chocolate Covered Blueberries has a much stronger green-brown duochrome effect with much more sheen.

In the following swatches, Club is on top and Chocolate Covered Blueberries is on the bottom...

They look almost identical here.

Chocolate Covered Blueberries has very obvious red undertones.

The final test was to actually use each color on the eye since they are eyeshadows after all :) (Only one eyeshadow was used on each eye, ie. no crease or highlight colors. Also, please don't mind the corpse lips...I'll explain that in the next post.)

Totally different, right? When applied and blended out on the eyes, Club maintains its green-brown duochrome color while Chocolate Covered Blueberries tends to expose its red undertones more and more with each swipe of the blending brush.

Overall, I'd say that these two are not dupes, contrary to what I initially thought. While they look almost identical in the pan and swatched on the back of my hand, the only thing that truly matters is how an eyeshadow looks on your eyelid and in this case, they look different enough where I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the house as it looks obvious that I have two different eyeshadows on.
